Since the establishment of The Albert Hunt Trust over 40 years ago the trustees grant making strategy has evolved, expanding to support as many organisations as possible, whilst remaining true to the original objectives of the settlors. In the early days, our founders provided a list of particular charities they prioritised to support, and this list has been the blueprint that has shaped the current grant making philosophy.

Charities who work to promote health and wellbeing within society has always been a focus. This definition is broad and increased demand in recent years, exacerbated by the pandemic and now the economic crisis has led to the trustees reluctantly deciding to narrow the criteria within this sector whilst ensuring the current level of spending is maintained and potentially increased.

We are committed to ensuring our application mechanism is as straightforward and honest as possible and certainly do not want the charities who seek our support to spend unnecessary time on this process.
